The Northwoods is blessed with both Largemouth and Smallmouth fishing, mostly with smallmouth. Out season is a catch and release from the walleye opener to mid June. This is a time of trophy smallies and it is common to catch 20 to 22 inch fish and a rare 23 or 24. The catch and release season is good but mid summer will move us to Largemouth and fishing in the weeds. This bass fishing can stay good until August as after that the best tapers off. Bass can be caught throughout the year but patterns do change dramatically.
